With over 10 years working in the industry, Jack has an innate understanding of the image, the narrative and pulling multiple elements together to craft a well told, highly emotive and deeply moving story.
I started the company Friction Collective Ltd. back in 2014 and since then we have moved from filming massive multi day events such as Boomtown Fair, through to filming for Dyson, Prolifics and UWE and other large corporations. We have created films for fashion brands and business hubs and worked closely with repeat clients such as Bath Carnival and Extreme Events. We understand it’s about creating films that make a difference, that reach out and pull the viewer in, whilst changing perspectives and creating new and inspiring ideas.
Having worked for many years as a studio assistant in my teens, i picked up all the skills, etiquette and tactics of commercial visual work. It was a steep learning curve and i remember fondly just how boggling that world was at the time. I eventually found myself doing music technology at Bath College, finding the tech side of music much more appealing as it meant technical creativity, something that still appeals to me to this day. Out of college i worked in a high end production studio, working on the score for the Mircosoft Xbox game, Halo 5. Once that project was finished i realised the visuals were what had excited me and set out back into the world of the moving image.
My real passion for film making and adventure comes through creating adventure documentaries. Cycling 650 miles across Vietnam whilst creating my first adventure doc, followed by filming Mel Nicholls, Lands End to John O’Groats world record and a 1,000 mile epic journey through central Malaysia.
I am proficient in working with stabilized gimbals and have a strong skill and depth of knowledge when it comes to working to getting incredible shots on such rigs.
I have a good working knowledge of:
Arri Alexa Mini
Sony FS7mkii (owner)
